Kingston-based Reggae Revivalist Samory I has teamed up with Homegrown producer Winta James to drop the single "Blood In The Streets".

The single jointly produced by Overstand Entertainment and the New York-based Easy Star Records is slated for release on all major streaming platforms on November 11th.

Samory I stamped his presence on the scene in 2017 with the critically acclaimed album Black Gold produced by Stone Love's Rory Gilligan, and has been a consistent presence among the new wave of fusion artists rooted in traditional Reggae.

Jamaican music producer Delroy "Phatta" Pottinger teams up with Reggae legends The Tamlins and emerging Jamaican Reggae artist Tydal Kamau to help serve a fresh re-take of the Tamlins classic Nina Simone original hit, Baltimore. 

The new incarnation is a cut of the reprise made popular in 80's by Sly & Robbie and the Tamlins is a well delivered re-work  that is sure to find favour with disc jocks worldwide.

With a solid decade under his belt, Tydal Kamau hit the Reggae Radar in 2012 with his debut single, "Call Me". 

Two years later he would find his mark with the single, "I&I Still Exist", for House of Riddim Productions, before securing his  breaktrhough moment on the Oneness Records hit medley from the "Nice & Easy" Riddim project.

Hailing from the tiny Caribbean island nation of Saint Eustatius, Reggae Fusion artist Ziggi Recado made a formidable impression on the international scene with his 2008 16-track album "In Transit".

He followed through in 2011 with his self-titled album that spawned the sultry ganja anthem "Mary".

But his lack of collaborations would stunt his musical growth.

By 2015, Recado's blimp had almost disappeared from the mainstream Reggae circuit despite consistent project releases.

He would change this in 2017 with the EP "The Commission", which featured impressive collaborations with Pressure, Gappy Ranks, Million Styles, Kali P, and Blakkamore, but in the years that followed, he would be more absent that present in a space he nearly dominated almost a decade ago.

Fast forward to 2022, and Ziggi Recado is determined to make a solid re-entry.

The Netherlands-based artists recently made a three-single sprint in October, knocking out the "Got My Heart", "Run Way", and "Money Tree" over the course of 21 days.

Notable of the pack is "Got My Heart", a dancehall driven cut that brings back a vintaged feels of 80's rub-a-dub tainted with a subtle neo-jazz flavour that gives the track some zing.

Jamaican inspirational artist Jermaine Edwards is rolling out the release of his latest single "Blessings & Favour".

The afrobeat inspired track produced by his own Island Worship Music outfit is out now on Youtube and Apple music and is slated for a Spotify release later this week.

Jermaine Edwards has been enjoying a fruitful year, stretching the boundaries of his creativity with a series of releases that have found favour on radio in Jamaica, UK, The US East Coast, Central America, and the Eastern Caribbean.

Lila Ike has seemingly "struck gold" with her latest single, "Dinero".

The hiphop tainted dancehall driven release debuted at #16 on the US Itunes Top100 on October 13th, supported by a strong youtube visual that have been recieving warm reviews.

Kicking off with the "Mystic Man", a posthumous experience featuring Peter Tosh.

Kabaka continues the relentless pursuit to find his inherent sweet spot between Reggae and HipHop and remains conscious of the task.

"Red Gold & Green" featuring project producer Damian Marley is already cutting its own path as the lead single from the album.

"Make Things Work" is a solid solo single that made an early impression months before the album; as was the hip-hop tainted, funk-flavoured "Grateful".

The roots rocked "Stand Up" featuring the unknown Nathalia, wraps a strong action call in a smokey hard-hitting Rubadub soundscape.

"Safe Right Here" is possibly the best single on the album depending on which side of the coin you enjoy. A bonafide love ballad wrapped and soaked in warm acoustics, this one is a gem in the grass.

"Mr. Rastaman" featuring Tifa is aesthetically pleasing but feels like a strong filler at this point in the lineup considering the gravity of the material before and after.

"The Kalling" is worth its weight as the title track and goes four the hard way with Stephen Marley, Protoje, and Jesse Royal delivering full clips on this stinger.

Kabaka Pyramid turns up the experience with an unexpected dark horse."Faded Away", is without a doubt the most innovative single on the project.

Knocking heads with Buju Banton, and pushing Junior Byles centerstage with samples from the timeless "Fade Away" Kabaka shows that his Reggae Revival roots are still grounded where it matters.

The hip-hop-tainted "Addiction" gives way to its funk-driven counterpart "Energy" featuring Jemere Morgan.

The horn-smoked roots cut "Mary Jane" with Black Am I is a radio-ready herbs anthem, that leads into "EZ Ride". 

This Eddie Fitzroy sampled filler is ribbed by a monotonous flow that misses the mark coupled with the notion that Kabaka Pyramid sounds unattached to the sampled hook.

"Life is everything" is another hip-hop-tainted feature, this time with promising talent Answele and deserves a second listen.

Capping off the 15-track project is the regurgitated "Kontraband Pt2", with a new verse. 

Kabaka claims this is the "best track on the album"...

But I would strongly beg to differ.

All in All Kabaka Pyramid's "The Kalling" is a commendable robust body of work that shows the artistic growth of a homegrown fusion talent rooted in the Reggae Revival.

Hirie is one of those stateside artists that has spent time trying to refine her sweet spot in the global Reggaesphere, and though a well-produced effort, her latest 12 track album "Mood Swing" delivers the type of soundscape that leaves you wondering if you want more.. or if something is missing..

Ironically she kicks off with Diamonds, aesthetically engaging, and lyrically sound, its simplicity is pleasing, and though it is technically a solid production, something feels missing.

Thief In The Night drops in a soundscape that fits..but like Blacklist feels somehow dated in its reflection of Rihanna in a time almost forgotten.

Chocolate is exactly what it is...and probably one of the album's unexpected treats, that leaves listeners with warm rubadub sonics that steps up the vibe of the album.

Give her big props for her features.

As stated earlier Hirie dials down in each project and aptly drew on some of today's emerging names to bring credence and a sense of authenticity to the project.

What is a Reggae album without a few homegrown features??

Blast Soon featuring Kabaka Pyramid is clinically delivered, and though the song hits all the right marks it lacks musical chemistry...the element that can only be felt and not written.

Sway gives way to Hello, a much-anticipated collab with Anora, Chelley, and Homegrown talent Naomi Cowan who brought her strength to the two and half minute feature.

Spragga Benz shows his support on "I Miss You" which was one of her first hints of the album released early summer,though shortlived on the charts.

"Like a Drum" rolls uneventfully into "Sweet Tooth", a nice island-themed ballad that ebbs into "Voices..."

"Mood Swings" closes with "Replay" but the sentiment won't necessarily be reciprocated but for a few choice tracks.

All in all Hirie's latest full length studio effort "Mood Swing" showcases the evident growth in an emerging act that has put in the work to study her craft, but still has room to find her musical chemistry.

Miami Based Jamaican fusion artist Boney Derrington is on a roll for 2022.

With his 2022 release "Profile" heating up on radio in the Caribbean and Central America, Derrington has shifted into high gear with his latest studio EP "Tomorrow".

Independently released on his own ROAF imprint on September 16th 2022, the five-track EP project is described as a blended musical serving of Reggaeton-soaked Afrobeats wrapped in Dancehall.

Tanya delivers another long-awaited musical monologue, this time aptly titled "Some Kinda Madness".

Kicking off with "Intervention" Tanya starts as expected; witty, candid, and ruggedly truthful before rolling into "Too Much Party", a liqueur-filled comedy ballad that keeps the fun going with the calypso-inspired "Zig Ziggler", a tainted melodic throwback of "Boomwuk".

"Fifty" is a hot collared collab with the 90's Queen of the Dancehall Patra who made a blistering feature on the track. Aloe Vera is a filler that gives way to the rocksteady horn-driven "Jezebel".

"Weight Of Gold" featuring Nadine Sutherland has a solid live vibe but feels like a heavy drink that need a bit more chaser.

"Not Today" explains a lot on this album and is the gem in the pack. A beautiful delivery that naturally creates an entire vibe unto itself. A solid piece of work that surely will be embraced by diehard Tanya Stephens fans who have aged patiently for this new classic.

"Blame It on Rock & Roll" fills the gap to "Feel Like Love", with "Reset" featuring Big Youth following the album's live instrumentation soundscape which is solid; but wieghty at this point of the album.

The Title track "Some Kinda Madness" features Singer J taking a long runaway, and once it reaches listening altitude it remains relatively unimpressive.

"Don't Hurt Me" is an ear burner and at this stage, the album begins to sound mundane.

"World Goes Around" is the breather on the album and is wrapped in a simple emo-reggae soundscape that signals the acoustic side that many of us are eagered to enjoy.

"Diamonds in The Sun" featuring songbirds Cedella Marley and Diana King was another surprising gem released earlier this year, and personally one of my favourite new tracks from all three.

Sad yet sultry "So Damaged" featuring talented homegrown female crooner Kelly Shane is another warmer on the album that sheds away to "Serendipity", a swavy swing with an understated message that deserves a second spin.

"Some Kinda Madness" ends with the self-conscious epilogue "River", The most grounded drop in this eclectic bottle of musical spirits..

Tanya Stephens has never failed to speak her mind and regardless of how you feel about the album, it is exactly what it is. 

More vermouth than whiskey or wine, "Some Kinda Madness" is a musical mash of Tanya's mindmap splashed across a live soundscape wrapped in an earworm of monologues and soliloquies that is a mental tickle for those that perk at eclectic Reggae experiences..

Tessanne Chin's breaks her hiatus with the single "Earth Wind & Fire", released quietly by Smart Move Records on August 8th, and the track has already found its way on the Reggae Global Top40, debuting at #10 this week, and has peaked on the Itunes Chart in the UK at #22.

Introduced to the world as a contestant on season five of The Voice, singer Tessanne Chin won the competition with contestant Jacquie Lee as runner-up. 

Already anchored by a successful singer/songwriter back home in Jamaica, he has charted globally with her runanway reggae rockers hit "Hideaway" and has toured the globe with opening for the legendary Jimmy Cliff. 

Love For Granted Uptempo is slated for rapid release in a few days and has already been scooped into rotation by terrestrial radio in Panama, Peru, Venezula,  and Jamaica, with a cinematic visualiser by Skankn Studios is currently in the works.

Honezty has been enjoying a fruitful 2022, riding high on the success of "Calling" which has has become a breakthrough single for the emerging act.

Absent of the refined production frills from her critically acclaimed "10", Spice's latest 9-track studio effort, "Emancipated", stays true to her brand ideal; Raw, Unapologetic, and Provocative.

Kicking off with the unimpressive "Clap Clap", the album rolls into the controversial "Tape Measure" which is better heard than seen, with "Crop Top" changing the pace and is surprisingly one of the few singles that deserve an instant replay.

"Same Mouth" is personally my favourite track on the album, and honestly shows the tethered lyrical maturity that she keeps restraining to please her core besties, but some of her bastard fans will admit this is their favourite "flavour" of Spice on the album.

Spice turns up the heat with "Pop Off", the biggest banger on the album.

This is the bonafide hit on the album. On this track, Spice follows the "Go Dung Deh" blueprint to the T, and delivers a commendable solo effort.

At the halfway mark is "Bake A Man"; easily skippable. It adds nothing fresh to the album's interesting palette and does not showcase the growth expected from an artist who has blossomed into one of homegrown music's biggest international superstars.

"Big Big" is a Tape Measure leftover; "Nuff Man Name" is an unfortunate filler, but she finds a proper finish with "Mi Hate Him", an infectious earworm that will find its way into the favourite playlists of the forever young, the YOLO, and of course, the unapologetic.

Whether you love her or hate her, Spice will always find a way to stay relevant in the Dancehall purview...and as the appointed Queen of Dancehall..it should be expected.

All in all, "Emancipated" might not be as polished as "10", but delivers a well-blended fusion soundscape that is truly "pumpum driven and cocky inspired".

The uptempo Dancehall driven track is a timely plea for Dancehall to bring back the "Vibes" and the former Professional Boxer, now an aspiring artist, is showing his gusto in the booth on this his latest release.

The single "Vibes", has been well received by playlisters on Applemusic, Soundcloud, Tidal, and Spotify; racking up over 8,000 Plays; and has been a consistent feature in the Top20 of  HYPEDDIT's Top100 peaking at number 1.

The Virgin Island native made his debut in 2019 with the single, "No Response", which he followed up a year later with his EP "We Rise Up".

With Caribbean Radio warming up to "Vibes", critics are finally giving a listening ear to the humble giant that has now set his sights on the musical mainstream.

Samantha J, stormed the scene in 2013 with her hit debut "Tight Up Skirt", with which she enjoyed a burst of homegrown popularity and international acclaim.

But by 2015 the emerging talent had faded from the circuit, though she made a few attempts with singles such as "Bad Like Yuh", and "League of My Own", it would not be until 2017, that she would find "Baby Love" and "Rockets" but would quickly disappear from the scene for another half a decade.

Now in 2022 without much fanfare, Samantha J has returned with "Push Ya Luck", a bubble gum pop flaired dancehall fusion on par with her previous releases, but admittedly delivers a refreshing "breezing" from the current offerings for which she is warmly welcomed.

"Push Ya Luck" released on June 3rd managed to garner just over 1700+ Spotify Streams in its opening weekend and is fairing much better on Youtube with the glossy, well-choreographed visuals racking up close to 8000+ views since release.

Even in a post-humous state Reggae legend, U-Roy continues to live through his vast trove of unreleased tracks.

The legendary toaster who passed in February 2022, dropped his latest release, "Zion", in late May via Bobby Johnson's Ubigwitus Inc, which has been quickly garnering the attention of discerning Reggae aficionados, who have hailed the track as "A refreshing release among a crowded space of scanty authenticity".

The single, distributed by Hapilos, is available on all digital streaming platforms.

Underground Reggae/Dub band De Strangers has made their second release for 2022 with the track "Stop The Algorithm" from the 4 track EP project of the same name.

The 8 member Italian based band, made their dub in 2019 with the 8 track album "Down To Town" which was re-issued in 2021 as a six-track album.

De Strangers once again ventured out in March 2022 with the single "Wake Up", a precursor to the 4 track EP "Stop The Algorithm" which premiered in May 2022.

Now on the verge of Summer, De Strangers highly anticipated EP "Stop The Alogrithm", has been welcomed as a retro-themed, smokey collection of four original songs with a spatial frequency dripping with a one drop soundscape reminiscent of a what critics call an "Authentic" Reggae soundscape emanating from Jamaica.

Two giants of Jamaican music, Ernie Ranglin and Dean Fraser‘s paths have crossed many times over the years; on stage and in the recording studio. Although they have previously collaborated,
it was not on the magnitude of ‘Two Colors’.

Ernie Ranglin’s patented guitar licks duly complement Fraser’s distinctive saxophone tones on 12 tracks, several of which are dedicated to Ranglin. Fraser oversaw production of the project and recorded his parts at Tad’s International Recording Studio
in Kingston while Ranglin lay his tracks in Ocho Rios, rural Jamaica, near to his home.

Although they did not share studio space, Fraser enjoyed the sessions. “Mr. Ranglin is a man of my own vibe. Always laughing, giving jokes, yet playing as great as he can. He just wants to play good music,” he said.

‘Two Colors’ is the idea of Tad Dawkins Senior, principal of
Tad’s International Record, distributor of the album. Production started in early 2021 and it took one year to complete this exceptional instrumental work of art.

A project showcasing two stellar musicians requires a strong supporting cast. That’s exactly what Fraser assembled with the likes of: Mikey Fletcher and Dale Haslam on bass; keyboardists Andre Marsh and Bowie McLaughlin; guitarist Lamont “Monty” Savory, and drummer Desi Jones.

Ernie Ranglin is the Godfather of Jamaican music. He has played on numerous hit songs including “My Boy Lollipop” by Millie Small,The Wailers‘ “It Hurts to be Alone” and
“Stranger in Love” by John Holt.

He has toured with Jimmy Cliff as musical director and recorded a number of well-received albums. Ranglin was awarded the Order of Jamaica, Jamaica’s fifth-highest honour.

Fraser is from the fabled community of Trench Town where The Wailers (Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Bunny Livingston) honed their legendary harmonies and songwriting.

For the past 45 years, he has played on some of the great Reggae songs including “Baltimore” by The Tamlins, “Lift up Your Head” by Everton Blender and “It’s me Again Jah” by Luciano.

Fraser, who has recorded and toured with Dennis Brown, Luciano and Tarrus Riley, is a recipient of the Order of Distinction, Jamaica’s sixth-highest honour.

Young Trinidadian talent AMI, is certainly making her own wave across the Caribbean, with her single "Purpose" getting deserved attention on Radio throughout the Region.

Her latest single "Champion" which was released on June 3rd, is an impressive follow-up that sticks to her theme of inspiration above adversity, which she carves into a beautiful ballad across a piano-driven dancehall fusion soundscape, that compliments her lyrical delivery.

The video for the track, now out on Youtube, was directed by T&T based David Allen of David Allen Photography with AMI helping to conceptualise the video.

Homegrown Reggae band Black Uhuru, has been through several changes in their lineup across the group's four decades plus existence.

Originating from the grottos of Waterhouse in 1978, the band founded by Duckie Simpson rose to the pinnacle of global stardom working alongside the incomparable production duo of Sly and Robbie. 

Now in the new Millenium, the band continues to move to their own beat, and their recent album "New Day" features Cali reggae rocker Dylans Dharma, and the group's "new" lead singer Andrew Bees(Black Uhuru's frontman since 1996).

Produced by Grammy-nominated producer King Hopeton who delivered the group's 2018 Grammy-nominated album "As The World Turns" these partners in musical creativity have once again collaborated to produce a remarkable 11 track body of work.

Notable tracks on the project include the opening track "Jamaica to Here", "Brand New Day", "Top Ranking", and "Gal Next Door", which is an unexpected but refreshing reprise of Dennis Brown's 1978 classic hit " Man Next Door".

All in all, the album "New Day" is worth a listen and place in the collection of discerning Reggae fans of the group.

And just a note for vinyl fans.

The production distributed by U.S based LAW records is available in Teal coloured vinyl which ships in June.

ReniGad whose solo sojourn from his RDX claim to fame has been on an interesting journey as he continues to explore his ever-expanding creative canvas.

His latest release from his "Solo" debut album entitled "Mr. Jo" was dropped with a very witty music video, that showcases Renigad budding acting skills which brought an interesting element to the production.

After a near four year hiatus, Jamaican born, Miami based Reggae Rocker Phil Watkis, is seemingly back in high gear since his return in 2022.

Jamaican born, US-based Mighty Mystic is a global Reggae phenomenon cementing himself as one of the most sought-after acts in the industry. The music maven was born Kevin Mark Holness in the rural farming community of Goshen, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, to parents Morris and Sonia Holness.

Reggae instrumental collaborations remain vibrant and this is evident as Dean Fraser & Ernie Ranglin release their smashing new single De Ranglin, from their upcoming album, Two Colors.

Complementing the sounds of the saxophone and the guitar on this pulsating track is Jamaican veteran DJ Big Youth.

Two Colors is a collaborative album between guitar legend Ernie Ranglin and saxophonist Dean Fraser, released on May 27th by Tad’s International Record. The 12-song set contains mainly instrumentals, all produced by Dean Fraser and
Tad ‘ Junior Tads’ Dawkins.

The album is significant in that it pairs two of Jamaica’s most respected musicians, both of whom have worked with reggae’s greats including Bob Marley and Jimmy Cliff.

Deejay Big Youth, another reggae stalwart, is featured on De Ranglin, lead single from Two Colors which will be available on all digital platforms one month before Ranglin’s 90th birthday.

Production on Two Colors actually started in early 2021, with Fraser recording his lines in Kingston while Ranglin did his in Ocho Rios. They worked with an elite cast of musicians including bass guitarists Mikey Fletcher and Dale Haslam, keyboardists Bowie McLaughlin and Andre Marsh, drummer Desi Jones and guitarist  Lamont “Monty” Savory.

Ranglin is a giant of Jamaican music. He developed his distinctive jazz riffs in the 1940s, playing in bands like the Eric Deans Orchestra and listening to greats like German guitarist
Django Reinhardt.

His many achievements include arranging and playing on classic songs like Millie Small’s My Boy Lollipop and The Wailers’ It Hurts to be Alone. Ernie Ranglin is the recipient of the Order of Jamaica, Jamaica’s fifth highest honour.

Fraser is from Trench Town where Ranglin once taught guitar to young residents. Since the mid-1970s, he has recorded or toured with Marley, Dennis Brown, Sly and Robbie, Freddie McGregor, Buju Banton, Luciano and Tarrus Riley. He was awarded the Order of Distinction, Jamaica’s sixth highest honour.

Sophia Brown ~ Jamaica’s Reggae Songstress

‘Beautiful, talented and extremely passionate about music’ would be the best way to describe musical sensation, Sophia Brown.

Kingston, Jamaica … Five years after she suffered potentially life-threatening injuries in a car crash in the United States, Jamaican singer Sophia Brown, with a Grammy in mind, is set to release her fourth studio album, Bad for Me, on April 29, 2022.

“I wanted this, my fourth studio album, to be something spectacular. I want to look at it as one of my greatest works. I find I am more mature as an artist, as a producer and I tend to stick to the fine line where music and creativity are concerned,” Brown says of the completed project.

Ever since she released her first official single Love You Pure in 2008, Brown has become known internationally as one of Jamaica’s leading purveyors of classy, reggae soul songs that have won her a strong global following, especially among the Diaspora.

Songs like Am Weak for You, Spotlight and I am a Rose have become hallmarks of her career to date. Her previous albums are The Spotlight (2009), Catch Me if You Can (2012)
and Change (2017).

However, a near-fatal accident in Maryland in July 2017, threatened to derail her career for almost three years before she was once again able to resume recording. Now fully healed, she is back with her latest project that offers more of what her fans have come to love but with some extra spice.

Bad for Me will be released on Brown’s MusicMecka label and comprises an eclectic mix of songs that include My Religion, a collaboration with Duane Stephenson, Stronger (2020), Baby When You Left (2020), and the title track, Bad for Me, that was released in February 2022.

Except for the Sydney Mills-produced Baby When You Left, Brown takes production credits for all the other songs on the album that will be distributed by Zojak Worldwide.

Brown reveals that there is a mix of several genres on the album.
“People know me to sing love songs but we have some social commentary, we have Dancehall, and we have House. I have broadened my horizons on this album, something for everyone, that is also desirable for airplay on any station,” she says.

She poured her all into this latest work because she wanted her fans to get the Brown they’ve come to know and love.
 “I am a perfectionist in that sense because I like to know that whatever I am creating the world will enjoy it as much as I enjoyed creating it,” she says.

Brown harbours lofty ambitions for Bad for Me.  With this in mind, Zojakworldwide has the task of getting the album to every corner of the globe, a strategy used to great effect back when she released Catch Me If You Can in 2012.

“No country will be left untouched because I did that with the 2012 album, Catch Me If You Can, and I realized that is when I got into the preliminary rounds to being nominated for the Grammys. I never left any area untouched with promotion, so I am looking forward to doing this along with the Diaspora and the Caribbean,” she said.

“I want to spread the word globally when it comes on to this particular project. We have gone through a pandemic and we have used music to help soothe the world and, basically, I just want to send this out universally.”

The affable singer and her handlers have planned several promotional shows in the United Kingdom, Europe and the United States and an accompanying video for the title track is being readied for a simultaneous release with the album.

Boston, MA – For over 20 years, multi-talented Reggae artist, Mighty Mystic has masterfully managed to hold firm to his Jamaican roots while coining his own identifiable sound “HARD ROOTS’ by adding elements of Hip Hop and Rock to the Roots Reggae sound. Today he is proud to announce his 5th full length studio album 

 
The new album came to fruition at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, when Mighty Mystic was spending lots of time at home like the rest of the world. During this year of uncertainty, he spent his time rifling through old musings, notes and tape recordings filled with ideas and songs. He recalls, “​​While I didn’t write a single song about the pandemic, it certainly played a huge role in the fruition of the album.”
 
The album is 13 songs deep of Mystic’s HARD ROOTS sound that brings this multi-talented musician’s genre bending styles center stage. Included on the new album is the recently released hard-hitting single titled “Far From Jamaica” featuring Reggae icon Sizzla Kalonji and Tyler Loyal. “Far from Jamaica” is a catchy and relatable track. It is musically entertaining but with a message as the new song calls attention to a deeper conversation about Jamaicans living abroad working in harsh conditions to provide for their family back home in Jamaica. 

 
For Mighty Mystic, creating the new single was an opportunity to work with legendary Jamaican musicians. He recalls, “From when I was a kid growing up and listening to reggae music I’ve always been a fan of Sizzla. So, When I spoke to him about the idea of us doing a song together and him saying yes and actually doing it was truly a dream come true.  And on top of it the song came out even better than I had imagined. Another stand out is his single “King me Now,” released in late 2021. “King me Now” embraces the HARD ROOTS sound with Hard Rock, Dub, and Jam blended elements. “King me Now” was released with a music video (https://youtu.be/tduRoVroIYg) that debuted with Reggaeville! Mystic comments, “It’s Epic! Infused with shredding style rock guitars reminiscent of 1980’s stadium hard rock.  The theme of this song is, even in the sight of failure or death, don't give up, keep fighting ‘cause kingship awaits.”

 
When it came time to name the album Mystic looked to the title track. “Giant” is a simple yet catchy track about Mystic’s mom, and a tribute to all single mothers in the world. Reflecting on the new album Mystic comments, “The story behind the title Giant is one that is near and dear to me. There is a song on the album which is also titled “Giant” and that song is a dedication to my mother.  The song is about a single mother raising her 3 children, working multiple jobs, sleeping very little and yet achieving huge or should I say “Giant” things with the cards she was dealt.  It’s something that has always inspired me and taught me never to give up.
 
Giant was recorded late 2020 through Spring of 2021. With the pandemic top of mind, Mighty Mystic had always planned to record the album remotely but found the real magic was made with the band in the room. They ultimately ended up recording at Maritime Music Studio in Peabody MA with Tim Phillips at the helm. Maritime has the state-of-the-art equipment needed for the new album and also the appropriate space for social distancing to work. Mystic comments, “It felt so good to be in the same space as my crew playing and creating music.”
 
Mystic’s vocals were recorded by Jared Hancock at Surefire Creative Studios in Lowell, MA.  And additional recording and tracking were done by Tim at Phillips Sound Studios.  This album marks the 2^nd time Mystic has worked with the young and super talented Tim Phillips.
 
Mighty Mystic is a Globally respected and sought-after artist on the reggae scene. His brand of “HARD ROOTS” with his high energy stage performance has been a magnet for the enthusiastic reggae fan base. He has managed to hold firm to his Jamaican roots while adding elements of Hip Hop and Rock giving Mystic his own identifiable sound.  To date Mystic has released 4 top 10 charting albums (Wake up the World in 2010, Concrete World in 2014, The Art of Balance in 2016 & Enter the Mystic in 2019).  A dozen chart topping singles and thousands of radio plays! 
 
Since his early days of performing at school talent shows Mystic has gone on to tour and/or shared the stage with Ziggy Marley, Steel Pulse, Damian Marley, Buju Banton, Stephen Marley, Shaggy, SOJA, Toots and the Maytals, Collie Buddz, Sean Paul, Lee Scratch Perry, Barrington Levy, The Wailers, John Brownʼs Body, Luciano, Third World, Freddie McGregor, Capleton, Badfish, the Dirty Heads and the list goes on and on and on…with over 30 national tours and several international tours. Kicking off 2022 was the announcement of Mighty Mystic’s Hungry Lion tour! The winter tour  started in January with packed dates and picked up on March 16th in New York, circling around the New England states before heading straight west! Check out the full tour here.
 
Reflecting back on the new album Mystic says, “This is my 5^th studio album in a 20-year career.  I’m going to enjoy this release and all it entails. Not going to rush to do the next one just focus on enjoying the days as they come. If it's one thing I’ve learned during this pandemic, life is precious and we are all blessed to be here so live a little, love a lot and enjoy life.”
